über die künstlerin
The artist from Stockach Christel Neumann is intensively engaged in watercolor and acrylic painting. Experimenting with self-made putties, which she partly processed with pigments and aquarylic color let imposing landscape paintings emerge.
her technique
Tension is a core concept in the works of Christel Neumann. Paintings develop and emerge, and the physical development of the material plays a major role.
Christel needs the variety of her three preferred techniques, watercolor, acrylic and palette knife work.
She began with the supreme discipline of watercolor. Later she devoted herself to acrylic painting of which generosity she was enthusiastic. The putties, partly homemade, tempt to experiment, which she likes to mix with sand from her vacations. Stone powders and other fillers find their use.
Heat exposure and long drying times then exert their effect. Unpredictable cracks develop, creating individual structures.
Christel first came across aquarylic color during a workshop with Angelika. The enthusiasm and joy about this new color was immediate. Excitement arose and she asked herself the question, “What expression will my artwork get with this unique color?” This vibrancy and brilliance immediately overwhelmed her. From now on, wonderful works of art were created in her mixed technique.
What appealed to her most was the diversity in the use of these colors. Pure color application, diluted color application have aroused her curiosity. Through constant experimentation, she came up with the idea of using these colors in watercolor painting as well. It gave her so much pleasure to see how the aquarylic color behaves on the watercolor paper. Once again, the vividness and the flowing behavior surprised her positively. In the meantime, Christel uses these colors more and more often because she really likes the resulting gloss on the watercolor paper.
The watercolorist deliberately uses aquarylic color for her watercolor paintings.
about aquarylic
“In any case, the aquarylic color continues to hold open an exciting experimental work for me. Continuing to work with it will remain exciting. Plenty of new ideas come to me as I work everyday. I highly recommend the aquarylic color to all watercolorists! Work exclusively with aquarylic colors or combine them with your watercolors! The aquarylic color is a gift for us and must also find its use in the field of watercolor!”
